Travel Info my sister wants to know what the jewelery is like over there? is it cheap?? (shes looking for an engagement ring!!) Travel Tips Larimar, and amber are there main stones! they are not cheaply made and are not cheap. but u can go on to the street where they are made cheap and are fake so i recommend getting it from a jewelery store from the hotel of finding a clean one. make shur they have a black light so u can see the amber to make shur its real.(Dominican Republic amber usually fluoresces blue. This is a simple test if you happen to have a black light) but both rock are just plane beautiful. we drooped a 100$ on both rocks and are not big there about a med sized rock but we also had to negated with the dealer! http://larimarusa.com/ http://www.adove2000.com/amber2.html... Others Larimar is the popular stone of Dominican Republic. Amber is also popular. s Anything and everything made in the DR is cheap. Cheap made and not worth anything. Can't expect much considering they work for about $5.00 a day. Forget about the warranty. Once they get your money it's over. Lived there and it totally sucks. we just can back from there .. we did not go to town but they did bring a flea market to the hotel.. there you can barter with them and cut a good deal... i didn't really see anything worth while and on the hotel they where over priced .... hope this helps |
