Although the hurricane season 'technically' runs through from about June to December, it is rare for hurricanes to cause trouble in July. There can always be the occasional tropical storm (hugely heavy rain - often a refreshing blessing - for a brief period followed by sweltering sun) there may even be some high winds whipping around on occasion (but not so much as will cause major mayhem) -- but generally the hurricane season saves its worst for late October/November/early December... IF any hurricanes of note occur at all. It is really pretty unusual for severe hurricanes to mar June, July or August.

NOTE: Hurricanes are a way of life in the Caribbean hurricane belt and USUALLY they just mean a day under secure shelter drinking some cool beers! It is pretty exceptional when they do some real big damage in the DR, and this is even rarer an occurrence in the high summer months -- when severe sunburn, and dehydration, are more of a danger!!

It's in the hands of the Almighty. July is in the Hurricane Season, but the pattern over recent years has been for any hurricanes or hurricane threats to come later on in the season. It isn't until November that people in this part of the world can finally relax as far as that is concerned. However, with the weather doing such funny things over the past couple of years, who can really say? If you are planning a trip, then July should be all right from that point of view.
No the worst months for hurricanes is September and October. Hurricane season is from June 1 to Nov 30th.
But the weather is unpredictable, if you travel during the season purchase travel insurance.

have a great vacation
