Where to go on holidays this year? What are your thoughts on Dominican Republic? |
Travel Info My husband has priced up a holiday to the Dominican Repulic staying at the Rui resort the Rui Merengue. Anyone been there?? Travel Tips Hi! My family (me,husband, 2 kids ages 10 & 12) went there 2 years ago. The beach was beautiful. We stayed at one of the Iberostar hotes. My only complaint was that the food served on the buffets (except for the restaurants) was geared towards the Euopean appetite. There seemed to be alot more Euros than Americans at our resort. Also being in healthcare, I've now read that Hep A vaccines and malaria pills are recommended because of the growing mosquito population. Also, don't be offended if you see alot of "topless" & thongs in all agegroups. My kids were a little "weirded out" but after a couple days they were oblivious to it. I would also recommend to stay within the hotel grounds as there is some political unrest there. Its safe for tourist b/c it is a very poor country and they depend on people like us travelling there for their livelyhood. The beach & ocean water are absolutely beautiful though and it is very reasonable pricewise. You can snorkel right off the beach! Hope this helped! Others That is probably the worst place in the world to go next to Hati ! What are you thinking ? Are you crazy ? !!! we go to dom.rep every year.just got back and going again this november as we heard they start xmas celebations then.never been to rui tho.we always go to playa dorada.its beautifull and the people are great..go and enjoy.... DR is the place to be !!! You're gonna have a blast there !!! Very good hotel you will enjoy it! |
