Dominican Republic and Stomach Upsets? |
Travel Info I've just returned from the Dominican Republic with an awful tummy upset (embarrassing toilet trips) was in an awful mess on the journey home on the plane..lol, been like this for 3 days, anyone else had problems on holiday there? Travel Tips I went there 2 years ago and the morning before I was to come back to new york I ate some cake. That evening I started throwing up, I had Diarrhea, my stomach was hurting me really badly and I was weak and I couldn't walk. On the plane I was still a little weak, almost threw up and I couldn't eat anything. Source(s): DON'T eat food that has been out In the 90+ degrees. Other Travel Tips This has nothing to do with the country, it is probably to much drinking or eaten of something and it upset your system. In other case maybe you are pregnant? I went to the Dominican and had a upset tummy when I was there on my seconds week and alot of people did to. If you go on trip advisor and look up the Dominican you will find its a common problem there. Make sure you stay hydrated. You can drink things like Gatorade or pedialite to replace lost electrolytes. When you feel up to it you can try plain white bread or rice, really bland stuff. Sometimes when you get something in you that your body wants out this is the natural reaction. I wouldn't let it go on much longer before consulting a Doctor - three days is long enough I'd say - unless you are seeing improvement then may be just try to ride it out. Frequent traveler with a somewhat delicate constitution myself. It has nothing to do with the country. It was maybe something you ate. It can happen to anyone anywhere, not just the Dominican Republic. |
