Any recomendations on trips to do whilst in the Dominican Republic? |
Travel Info I'm going to the dominican republic this year and i don't know wat trips to go on. Travel Tips EVERYONE I talked to while I was there loved the Outback Safari. It goes into the countryside, visits a school, tours the local industry, and explores all of the wildlife. They said it was totally worth the time and money. Be sure to take some stuff to give the kids at the school. I wish I would have went on it :-( Oh well, always next time. Others Before answering I need to know what part of the DR you are going to?? Punta Cana? Peurto Plata? I took a really cool trekking trip up Pico Duarte on the back of a horse. You get a guide, and camp in cabins along the way to the top (about a 4-day trip). it is the highest point in the caribbean, and its a great trip for a nature enthusiast. Jan-March is a good time to snorkel with humpback whales. Other than that, its just a good place to hang out on the beach. a visit to Bacardi Island is a must do. its just so lovely and you get to ride in a rally fast speed boat. my daughter went there 2 years ago and said the hotel and beach was great but nothing else there to do. If you are going to Puerto Plata, there is a little restaurant there called Cafe Cito that does a "Pub Crawl" and it is so much fun. out back safari, catamaran, and ocean world are all good value - well worth the money. Id also recommend getting to Cabarete beach if you are on that side of the island - there are soooo many kitesurfers there, (we go most years for the kitesurfing). also a number of beach bars/restaurants with hammocks, happy hour, lovely cheap food with a great atmosphere Enjoy - I know you will! |
