Can I get advice from anyone from the Dominican or an experienced traveler of the Dominican? |
Travel Info My fiancee and I are getting married in November and going to the Dominican for our honeymoon. We are planning just short of two weeks there, the second week being at an all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana. Our issue lies with coming up with a plan for what to do during the first week in the country. From what we have seen so far, possible activities we are interested in are hiking Pico Durate (possibly canyoning, rafting...), experiencing Santo Domingo, attending a baseball game, attending a cockfight, and we are also open to suggestions. We have read numerous accounts of why it is essential to take the 3-day/2-night Pico Durate hike, but can't determine whether it is desirable to take an organized (more expensive) tour or organize our own guide, etc. At the same time, we can't figure out whether we could still take in a ballgame, cockfight on our schedule. We would be open to doing those activities during our all-inclusive stay if it is possible. ANY advice is welcome! Travel Tips Here are my 2 bits - but first please promise you will stop calling the place "the Dominican" the "Dominican" is a person, not a place. Dominican Republic - people will react allergically if you call it the "Dominican." Anyhow, Take the guided tour if you are going up Pico Duarte. It may not be really easy to organize things yourself if you are a first-timer, and the extra expense might be worth the time you save. The ****-fight you can most likely do from the AI since it doesn't take all day. Good job on doing 1 week on your own and 1 week AI, I actually hate AI's because people tend not to get out (amoung other reasons). Others i麓m a tour operator, specialised in wedding/honeymoons. I can advise you many things but for this just contact me. I live in Puerto Plata. |
