Punta Cana is a terrible destination unless you want stricktly all inclusives where you won't know what country you are even in. There are beach places like Punta Rucia which is absolutely beautiful and you can actually see a town that Dominican people live in unlike Punta Cana where the sheep go! Uncrowded and you can get a fabulous seafood lunch for 150 pesos with beer. Yes that is under 5 US dollars. Luperon is a safe harbor for sailors who flock there. Also lovely beaches. Cabrera/Playa Grande area is beautiful beaches and a world class Golf Course side by side. They call it the Pebble Beach of the Caribbean. Unlike Pebble Beach which has 8 holes ON THE OCEAN Playa Grande has 12 holes on the ocean. Truely a treat. This whole country is stunning. You have Pico Duarte which is the highest peak in the Caribbean. Snows often and frost just about every day. Costanza is the breadbasket of the country and a good percentage of the produce is grown there. Jarabacoa is in the mountains where the social live revolves around the Rivers since it isn't close to the beach. Leave the sheep behind in Punta Cana and see the most beautiful country in the Caribbean along with the most beautiful people. |
