Travel Info the ladys nice?- both the pro's and locals?night life? Travel Tips It is very safe. DR has less violent crime than most american cities. Due to poverty, petty theft is very common though. Keep an eye on your wallet and anything of value. Any beach hotels are great. I highly recommend the town of Sosua for a single guy. Sosua also has decent hotels just a block or two from the beach that are very low cost. The nightlife hangouts are called discos. If you are single and a tourist, you can pretty much take your pick from local girls. They are always looking for foriegn boyfriends or husbands. Domincan girls are very pretty. There is a website of dominican girls that is based in Sosua. It is like a dating/marriage agency. If you are interested in that type of thing. Source(s): Been there a few times. Other Travel Tips Yes, it's very safe. Like most resort areas just don't get off the beaten path. I stay at Viva Wyndham Tangerine it is fantastic...great rates, great beach, great people. For nightlife there are 3 casinos, if you like dancing and young crowds go toTucans, Tortuga Bar, or Crazy Moon. There are many, many nightclubs so wander around and check them out.
