Travel Tips
hi, i will show you many things you can do:
Discover a hidden paradise in one of the driest zones in Puerto Plata!

1- Enjoy the beautiful flora and fauna en route to Punta Rusia. Visit a National Park where you will see a combination of colorful mangroves and even a "Manatie" which is a special kind of mammal that lives in the island. While in the island you can enjoy the marvelous beach and do some snorkeling. The snorkeling equipment, lunch, and drinks are included

2- Take the road to the beautiful Samana Peninsula, where you can swim in the Fountain of Youth.

After a three and a half-hour ride, you will enjoy the most beautiful views of the north coast. Upon arrival in Samana, board a boat that will take you to the gorgeous island of Cayo Levantado, also known as Bacardi Island. Relax on its white, sandy beaches. On the way back, you will have the chance to swim in the Fountain of Youth.

Lunch will be served right on the beach
3- Sail the beautiful sea on this full-day catamaran excursion, complete with fruit, drinks, and lunch.

Your catamaran adventure will begin by sailing 16 kilometers from the Playa Dorada to Sosua, which is one of the most beautiful beaches on the north coast. On the way you will have the chance to dance merengue, salsa, bachata, and pop with our animation staff. For those who like to snorkel, you will have the chance to jump out of the boat and explore the coral reefs. You will enjoy complimentary fruit in the morning, drinks all day long, and lunch onboard the catamaran.
4- Drive a six-wheeled amphibious all-terrain vehicle on land and water.

This is bound to be a ride like no other. Nothing can stop this semi-monster truck from romping through Puerto Plata. Take it slow and enjoy the gorgeous views or pump up the speed and let loose. You can drive them alone or take along your friends and family.
5- Enjoy an unforgettable adventure on exciting four-wheeled bikes!

Take this half-day excursion around the 800-meter high Isabel de Torres Mountain and delight in the spectacular view. Travel through gravel roads to discover how native Dominicans live, build their homes, and raise their children. Bring your bathing suit for a swim in the river and take some time to rest in the sun. You will then ride through sugar cane plantations to the semi-desert beach named Bergantin for another opportunity to take a dip

2 weeks is a long time! If you aren't certified to dive, I would highly recommend you take a course - we stayed in March at Casa Marina and the dive center was right on site (my 10 year old son got certified with Igor).

The trick in the D.R. is to find the right tour company. You really can't book things yourself, as odd as that may seem. I would go to www.tripadvisor.com to find recommendations for tour operators.

We did the Monster Truck Safari and were very disappointed; it was a 4 hour pan-handling effort and they did not make the advertised stops. The day tour of Puerto Plata was great. I would also try to get to the fort, and ride the tram to the top of the mountain.

We didn't make it to the town nearby that has bars & clubs (it is well known for kite surfing) and someone said that area was great.

Have fun!
Just contact the hotel and tell them that you wanna have some tours outside the hotel. they have package for that. Enjoy it Dominican Republic.

Get out of the all inclusive resort and see this fine country and meet some of the nice people regardless of what your tour reps tell you. They are going to tell you it is unsafe but that is only a lie to get you to buy overpriced tours from them.

Take a bus or taxi to Sosua and Cabarete. Beautiful beaches, good stores and restaurants where you will be able to order something and it will taste like something you ordered:)

Have a nice time but get the heck out of the institution!:)
