Hola Puerto Plata!? |
Travel Info What more can I do at Cofresi Beache and at the Sun Village Beach and Resort? I hear alot we are not allowed to leave the resort is that true? And why? Is it dangerous to do so? Are there cities near by where you can shop and sights see? I would like to know of cool places to see or do with the family! And of little joints were they have great and true dominican food! Thank You, Santo Domingo Travel Tips 1stly, you're definitely allowed to leave the resort. But be warned... do not take everything you see or hear at face value...you wouldn't trust just anyone at home, the same goes for in another country. We were two females last year and went out with one of the staff we were friendly with. When we asked him about gun control (while we were out) he pulled a handgun from his jeans and showed it to us and were also told that it's nearly essential to carry a gun in Puerto Plata. (still scared us, though!) So always let someone know where you're going and when you intend to be back etc... it's simple common sense. If you get a cab, you can arrange to be picked up and dropped off, etc... just be sure to call it from the hotel. Don't flash money, jewelry, expensive electronics around etc... As far as sight seeing, there's tours you can take to through the resort (buy them ONLY through the resort!) You can see the breath-taking views from Mount Isobella de Torres, go to Sosua Beach for souvenir shopping, check out the Amber Museum or Fuerte San Felipe in Puerto Plata (about 15 mins away). You can definitely get some Dominican food on the trips. Your best bet is definitely a local. They know best. Also check tripadvisor.com... you'll get some amazing advice from people who have already been there! Others its not true you cant leave the resort, but that it might be slightly dangerous to do so, yes thats true. in tourist places like that, the people just about jump at you trying to sell things. its very intimidating and there is a lot of dishonesty. shopping places cloes to there are all tourist shopping and theyre out to get you. be careful went to rep dom in 2004 Hi Gatikabela! (nice little cat) hihi, I麓m a tour operator here in Puerto Plata and I don麓t know who told you that you have to stay in the hotel? This is a lie! First the Hotel Sun Village is a very good hotel, just about 500meters from Ocean World. Puerto Plata is about 10 min with bus (15 pesos) 1 us= 32 pesos. If you wanna do or ask anything like excursions just ask. Enjoy it Gilbert |
