Travel Tips
Having been to the Dominican Republic about eight or nine times , I can recommend it. The all inclusive complexes are very nice and geared up for tourists. All of the hotels have childens clubs and mini disco etc. Entertainment is provided for all ages. Beaches are nice warm waters for the kids. Cabarete is a windsurfing place, so the waves tend to get a bit much for childen. The complex at Playa Dorada (in the North of the Island - by Puerto Plata) comprises of 12 or 14 different hotels all in a gated protected area. with shops resaurants etc. The hotels there have their own beach bar, so whilst on the beach you can get your all inclusive drinks and snacks also free sunbeds and non motorised water sports are free. There are jet ski's and parasailing available at a charge on the beach also. Also Palm trees along beach so you can get some shade if you want. Lots to do and see in the Dominican. There is a Dolphin place to go to, where you can swim with the dolphins, the kids can go in with you and they get the dolphin to kiss you!! Sosua is a nice little town to visit and the beach is nice- they have guys on the beach there who will rent you a sunbed but they will also go and get food and drinks for you if you ask- Well they do for me anyway! The prices for holidays there are excellent in comparison with the other Caribbean islands. June is OK, In May it tends to rain a lot so If I were you I would go maybe mid to end of June if you can. The locals do not have a very good standard of living, as with a lot of Caribbean Islands it is quite shocking to see how they live. However they are a very friendly race of people always say "Hola" to you and always have a smile. Do not fall for the rubbish they spout about family ill, needing a doctor or dentist etc it is all rubbish! They will rip you off with a smile! - My husband is Dominican and has told me all about the things they say and do.
Hope you enjoy your holiday!

We've only been to the Dominican Republic once but we really loved it. We stayed at Sunscape Punta Cana Grand and it was extremely kid friendly. Very good restaurants and great service. Two years ago it only cost us approximately 1600 dollars for everything for the 2 of us and that includes all your food and drinks. Whatever you decide have a great time.
