I'm going to the dom rep at the beginin of august nxt year for 2 weeks and I'm worried about the hurricaines. |
Travel Info Would you advise me to go at a different time? Travel Tips From a financial perspective, it's definitely beneficial to go the Caribbean during that time as it's low season and there are excellent deals to be had. However, that's right in the middle of the hurricane season which typically runs from June 1st to November 30th (and sometimes even later as evident by tropical storm Zita which started past the official end of November 30 and began on December 30 and ended on January 6). Considering that last year's hurricane season featured 5 storms during the month of August, I'd book it for another time if it's a great concern to you. Others I have traveled to Domincan Republic before and have been told that because of the high mountains hurricaines do not hit them. They do however get some rain. The natives tell you that if it is raining in the morning you can count on it raining all day long!!! Modified 11 months ago |
