Do you need a passport to go to Dominican Republic? |
Travel Info Do you need a passport to go to Dominican Republic? Travel Tips yes you need a passport. As far as I know, in the past if you were a US citizen u didnt need one, but Now you do. Others Yes or some sort of government I.D. because you're traveling from the U.S. to a foreign country. You always need a passport when traveling outside the USA. Until December 31, 2006, you can travel to the Dominican Republic without having a passport if you are a US citizen. All that you need is some form of picture ID. Nevertheless, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you have a passport. Starting January 1st, 2007, a passport will be required of everyone in order to travel back to the U. S. http://www.usemb.gov.do/consular/acs/pas... http://travel.state.gov/passport/passpor... if you are a u.s citizen you dont really need it but to avoid any problems i recommend you do get one for safety reasons. I have personally traveled to Dom. Rep. without a passport all my life, but last time i did which was recentry i got stopped and questioned by the immigration services...and it wasnt fun at all...i almost missed my plane! They asked me a whole bunch of questions about the united states and luckily i passed them. I did have different ID's and things that proved i am a citizen...but they still decided on asking me these many questions. If you dont travel over there without a passport...bring your birth certificate(of the u.s) if you are a citizen and bring enough proof that you are one. K...bye ;O) me |
