What type of electrical outlets do they have in the Dominican Republic? |
Travel Info I'm taking my first trip there in a few months and wanted to know if it was the same as the US? Or like they have in Europe? Or something different? Just be careful of the power surges/outages. My sister had a cell phone ruined. I (on the other hand) never had a problem and I visit often. You will find the same types of electrical outlets as you have in the States, mostly 110v. A word of advice: If you will be staying in one of the more popular all-inclusive resorts, I advise you to be very careful when outside resort walls. 1. Keep your passport in a SAFE place. (My mother got her passport stolen, among other things, while staying there last year.) 2. If you are a woman, wear your purse sideways across your chest, pickpockets will have a harder time at stealing it. 3. When in a taxi, remain inside the cab while you pay the driver. (People I know have been mugged while standing on the sidewalk paying a cabbie, as they watch the taxi drive off!) 4. Beware of the "motores", this is what they call the motorcycle hellraisers that usually drive around in packs and snatch purses, cell phones and the like... 5. And lastly, wear lots and lots of sunblock! Just wearing a hat and sitting in the shade is NOT enough, the sun is very harsh in the caribbean. (You want to enjoy your vacation, not spend it in your hotel room rubbing aloe on your sunburn...) Have fun! I think they use Levitan brand outlets but I havent checked lately. |
