Travel Info Is the Dominican Republic a safe place to vacation since it is next to Haiti? Travel Tips Never been there, but I heard it's quite nice. I know three couples who have vacationed there in the past year and they all had a wonderful time. Other Travel Tips yes, my pop lives there and he's old no dont go there No, it's a safe place to vacation despite being on the same island as Haiti. The interior is very mountainous so little travel across the border takes place & the Dominican Republic remains quite distinct from Haiti despite being right next to it. If you are looking for a safe place for vacation, then try space. The next shuttle will be leaving sometime next week.
