Why are pop up screens blocked?

I am trying to read information on a cheapcaribbean.com hotel and I keep receiving a pop up has been blocked.

On the place that says ''a popup has been blocked'', click it and press ''temporarily allow popups'', then refresh the page by pressing F5. The new window should be allowed.

Otherwise, popups are blocked for your own safety, since they might introduce spyware and viruses into your computer. Most exploit flaws in the browser, so it is best to keep popups blocked. They are usually advertisements anyway.

pop ups are blocked coz its a pain in the *** for a window to pop up every time u are browsing some site..
If you have a pop-up blocker on, that's why.
