Dominican Republic & Cuba: how does the ethnic mix differ? |
Travel Info Please tell me how the ethnic mix differs between these two places. I hear they are similar. Gracias. Travel Tips hello..well i am Dominican myself and first of all, have u been to Dom.Rep. before on vacation.??..well in cuba, the ethnic of ppl are..: 53%mulatto,36%wht,and 11%blk...and in our Dom.Rep. we are 73%mulatto,16%wht,and 11%blk..so is that what ur meaning??..u can feel free to E-mail me back at Lizkimller1985@yahoo.com..ok chao! Others if you see a dominican and a cuban it will be hard to know who is who....we are very alike ....you can identify them by the way they speak....................i am dominican Bro, theres is a big ethnic difference, there may be exceptions, but most of the dominicans are black or light skin, there are some parts in DR (north part called "El Cibao") where theres whites cause those where the areas where most spanish colonisers stayed. But DR share the island with Haiti. We are a mix of Spanish colonisers, African Slaves and Indians Called "Tainos". Thats what made the Dominican race. In Cuba there were not a lotta Blacks, there are, but not as many as in DR. A lotta spanish people stayed there, Thats why most of Cubans are white. A Good example is that when Im in Miami I cant tell who is cuban and who is born american, unless they speak of course. But anyways, I hope this may help. |
