Travel Info What warm Country can Canadians work and live in with out a work permit is the Dominican Republic one of them? Travel Tips Yes, you can work in the Dominican Republic without a work permit, however, you must be willing to pay. For instance, the company where I work, Stream International, will hire you to work without your cedula. They will withhold 10% of your salary to pay to the government for your ability to work here. When you look at it, it's actually a pretty good deal, because you really pay little in taxes here. Therefore, the 10% tax is very cheap. There are other companies with the same policy. Email me and I will share a little more of this with you. Others I am not aware of any countries that foreign nationals can work in without a work permit.. I am working here now without a permit. The laws here are not too difficult to overcome if you are willing. Also, most officials will tell you that is simpler and faster to go without applying for the proper permits because everything here is so slow. You will encounter a few problems though. If you do come "illegally" the airport will want to know why you have a one-way ticket to a country where you are only considered a visitor. Second, if you apply for a job and or get into any kind of trouble over here - and the authorities find out what's up - there are chances that you are sent packing without so much as 5 mintues to pack your stuff. Check out this site for more technical info. It is a great portal for any and all info about the D.R. http://dr1.com/legal/index.shtml... P.S. Make sure to learn Spanish. We don't need any more people here saying: no able espanol www.dr1.com |
