Got to be rice and peas.

Everything in the caribbean revolves around rice and peas.

You have it with Goat curries, Roties, Plantain, Yams, Casava, breadfruit, breadnuts, allsorts... Everthing is always with rice ad peas.

The Dominican Republic is a lovely place to be, I'm told. I'm afraid I've never been there, but then, I'm from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

sorry about that. But had to answer.

Everything is rice and peas.

Others
Plaintains in all its ways as well as white rice, pigeon peas (guandules) and most kinds of red meat and/or chicken. I love Dominican cuisine, it's very tasty.
Rice and beans with some kind of meat. It is prepared in many different ways. Also plantains and sancocho (a special stew).
The most common dish in the Dominican Republic is rice, beans and chicken, (or other types of meet, including goat). Dominicans eat mostly natural foods. Which means, no preservatives nor artificial stuff in the meals.

As a resident of the Dominican Republic for the past 6 years, I have grown quite a belly because of the great meals prepared by these people.
Well....let's see....for breakfast this morning, I had scrambled eggs, yucca, and salami....for lunch, rice, beans and well, we didn't have chicken, we had guinea (pheasant), and for dinner, I am having papas fritas (fried plantains), more salami, more rice...

That's pretty standard. Of course there are many kinds of food here, so believe me, we are not limited to just that. In fact, last weekend, I went to Megacentro and had Taco Bell and then went to a movie.
Interesting question!
The national dish in every home at lunch is called: "la bandera Dominican" (the Dominican flag). The flag has 3 colors, and the dish 3 components: white rice, beans (usually red) and stewed chicken pieces.
The dinner typically is called: "mang煤", it consists of mashed green plantain with a Dominican salami, which is not the same taste as a regular salami.
Other typical dishes are the "sancocho", that is a stew soup of 7 meat and the "mofongo" that is mashed green plantain with "chicharones" pork fried in it and a touch of garlic.
Hope it helps you,
