Does any1 know any facts about the homes in dominican republic? |
Travel Info this is for a report Travel Tips Wow....not that's a wide topic. Let's see. I live in a modest home, made of block - similar to cinder block, with a concrete ceiling and tile floor. This is a very comon house in the Capital. The countryside (el campo) is quite a bit different. There you will see many houses made of part block and part wood, or all wood. Most of these will have a tin roof, with little or no insulation. The floors in most of these houses will usually be concrete, but may also be dirt or tiles. Houses range in prices from around $5,000 American dollars to Millions. The house in which I live goes for around $15,000. There isn't really much of an infrustructure, so to keep water in the house, most of us have tanks on the roof of our houses or sisterns dug in front to hold the water. Electricity is a funny thing. It's sent when the government sends it. The whole city is set up on a rolling blackout period, so electricity will go out several times throughout the day so the other parts of the city may have some. For this, many of us use inversors - battery chargers with several 12 volt batteries. Hope this helps. Others You can find in DR every kind of houses, from small ones and very delicate houses, to big astronomic houses. The Dominicans like to live well, and that is a fact. I live in a 2 story house, and all in all, the houses around are very pretty. Of course you can find in a very modest house a TV or radio set that any person wouldn't have even if they had money. Sometimes we Dominicans are a little bit over the top, and is more noticeable as the person has less money. But I've traveled, and I found that our houses are very nice, even though we are a third world country, compare to some houses in some areas in Miami, and the houses in puerto Rico, we have some gorgeous homes here!! |
