Travel Tips
WE HAVE BEEN TO BOTH AREAS AND I WOULD RECOMMEND AN AREA IN THE D.R. CALLED LA ROMANA, THERE IS A RESORT THERE CALLED SUNSCAPE CASA DEL MAR AND IT IS INCREDIBLE, THERE IS LOTS TO DO FOR EVERYONE THE ACTIVITIES DEPARTMENT ALWAYS HAS SOMETHING ON THE GO, THERE IS A HUGE POOL AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE POOL YOU CAN GO SNORKELING RIGHT OFF THE BEACH AND FEED THE ANGELFISH. WE HAVE TRAVELED TO A LOT OF PLACES BUT IT IS THE 1 I LIKE THE BEST. I HOPE I HELPED.

Funny you should ask. My family and I are going to the Dominican Republic and staying at the Sunscape. We've never been there before but have heard from alot of people that it's gorgeous. We've checked out the reviews and most of them are great. Go online and check it out. Have a wonderful trip.
Most of my clients Love NH Krystal In Mexico and Super Clubs in Punta.

First, Punta Cana and Riviera Maya (resorts south of the Cancun airport) will both be the destinations you are looking for. Cancun proper is very commercialized and more for partiers and young honeymooners.

Go to www.tripadvisor.com and enter the name of the hotel you want to consider and select SEARCH. Read the review and, afterwards you can select to see the list of all the hotels in that resort area. When you read the reviews consider the reviews by Americans over the others as Americans are much more particular when it comes to room sizes, quality of beaches, variety of food, etc.

Sunscape is set up as a family resort, but make sure you check the reviews - some are iffy. Same for Riu resorts. Resorts I'd recommend are Beaches, Dreams, and Iberostar Resorts.

Also, when booking an all-inclusive resort, I will not book my clients in anything less than a 4-star resort. You have to consider that you're dealing with food and cleanliness. The lower the rating the more potential that these areas are going to be lacking, so if you're planning a 7-day vacation and can't afford that amount of time at a 4-star resort, cut back the number of days rather that staying for 7-days at a 3-star resort.

Please consider contacting a good travel consultant - one that actually asks you what you want out of your vacation and what your interests are, instead of one that asks your vacation budget, tosses you a brochure and tells you to pick one. Ask the agent to provide you with 3 recommendations and question and compare why you should decide one over another. Do your research. An agent won't cost you anymore money and will probably save you money. The agent can handle all the necessary details. Nice to have those details taken care of instead of putting your vacation into jeopardy because you don't have all the necessary paperwork or the hotel doesn't honor your reservation.

Good luck - both of these are great vacation spots.
we stayed at barcelo maya colonial in mexico (mayan riviera) it was very kid friendly, they had a kids water park with heated water, slides shallow water too for tots. the beach was gorgeous, the food excellent and a kids club were they offer free babysitting. If you want to hear more about this hotel or others go to www.tripadvisor.com to hear hundreds of comments, positive and negative.
