Tell me about Dominican Republic? |
Travel Info i want to know what it like Travel Tips The Dominican Republic is a big tropical island with a lot of nice beaches and nice, lively people. I reccommend a visit, but just don't stay in an all-inclusive hotel. They will badger you into not leaving the resort, which is the worst mistake you could make. Jump a flight to Puerto Plata, and just go to Cabarete or Sosua and find a nice hotel to stay in near the beach and enjoy the local scene! Others I've been there several times, its very nice. Hotels and tours make sure your very well cared for, hotels often dont most natives inside, only guests, so everything stays safe and secure. People are often very friendly, and you can haggle with most street vendors to get a better deal. It looks kinda like what you might expect for a latin country...some rundown houses, chickens running around, things dont look new, bars on some windows. As long as you dont go or do something that could be dangerous(like in new york city) you should be pretty safe. I didnt see any crime or anything like that while I was there. Driving seems strange, a driver joked and said people get their liscences from a gumball machine. The beaches, landscapes, forts, and ruins can be breathtaking! The Dominican Republic is a hotspot for amber, you can get it fairly cheap (but keep an eye out for fakes)and if you like amber check out the Amber Museum. the DR is the best place ever. i would recommend u going down there. u can roam around with out felling Ur going to get hurt all tho there driving is very different from us. but its very beautiful down there. the locals are the best to be around. i would stay in all inclusive of hotel just b,c u can eat drink all u want. don't drink tap water. don't worrier about malaria the only way to worrier about that is if u get close to Haiti. i believe its the best place on earth! DR. tropical Island, with beaches like paradise, wonderfull people, that work everyday, but finds time to have lots of fun. a lot of dinning places, discos, clubs, fine restaurants, as well as all types of hotels, all inclusive, deluxe, boutique, all kinds, people are really nice. The DR has a lot of history, with is cathedral, first in america, and the first university as well. this island is great to have fun, ok to live in once you get used to caos of transportation, but that's ok for us, cause we're always happy. First and most important is that the Women here are beautiful always with a great smile on their faces and man can they dance! The island is big so you have an island loaded with the most beautiful beaches in the world, Desert and the Highest Peak in the Caribbean where it is not unusual to get snow and every morning frost. I live in Sosua and own a restaurant in Sosua as well as rent some condos here.. This is a touristy place and I will probably move down the coast to somewhere less touristy like Cabrera where the tourism there is high end Villa tourism. People spend serveral thousand dollars for one week in a Beautiful villa but there are not that many of them. So unlike most islands which are small and flat this place is a COUNTRY with various ecological systems that are simply georgous! I love it here. I live across the street from the ocean and can be in the mountains in 15 minutes. Man let me tell you about the women again! They are beautiful and have bodies like race horses. If you look at a woman and smile they will smile back unlike in other countries where you will get a smack in the face or arrested. Did I mention that I love the women here? LOL Agreed with everything already said ! Its beautiful in any sence - beaches, women , weather , resorts , and most important - people ! Been to Puero Plata many times - Sosua resorts - WOW !!!! Go out and find what you ar ereally looking for ! good luck ! You will love it . |
