What dose Punta Cana Dominican, Republic look like? |
Travel Info I have a paid vacation to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, but I have no idea what it looks like, the wheather, the people, or activitys to do. Travel Tips I have enjoyed Punta Cana for the past 2 years. The weather in December to January is amazing (high 80's to mid 90's) The 1st year we were there we stayed at the Sirenis Tropical, it didn't rain once the whole time we were there. By the way the food was excellent ! In December 2006 we stayed at the Ocean Bavarro also in Punta Cana, the weather was again excellent and not disappointing. It rained 3 out of the 7 days we were there. (but only for about 15 minutes every night around 8 or 9 pm. The people are very sympathic and very pleasant. There are always tons of activities to do on the resorts including nightly shows. Excursions are multiple and various and not very expensive. You have to try the bavarro runners, where you leave in the morning and spend the whole day, exploring sugar cane plantations, (with a sample of sugar cane and rum at 10:00 am) you go through the small towns and see how people actually live (very poor but happy), You are also taken to an authentic family home, where you can go inside and see what they live like and taste traditional Dominican Fare. In the afternoon, you are taken horse back riding on the beach (the horses are suited to you) After that you can enjoy some body surfing at no extra cost. You also get to visit a cigar factory and souvenir shops. Everything is included in the price. It was the best excursion we had been on. You can also spend 5 - 6 hours in the afternoon racing around in ATV's with a guide, that was also very pleasant and inexpensive. There is tons to do. I know you will enjoy alot. Let me know how it goes. PS. Everytime we have gone to the Domincan Republic we took meds against malaria. (Novo-Cloroquine) Which you need to take one pill every week for seven weeks. You start the meds 2 weeks before you leave. (****There have been cases of malaria this year so be safe and get the prescription for the meds) Also 2 yrs ago we had an injection against Hepatitis A-B-C, you go for an injection a couple of weeks before you leave and then 6 months later you go for a 2nd dose of the injection. This will last 20 years ! Be safe and Enjoy ! |
