It is truly the nicest hotel in the area. The only true 4 star in 20 miles or more.

Others
I stayed at the Riu Merengue in Puerto Plata and it was very nice... it is right with the Riu Mambo and the Riu Buchata and you can use all three... the Buchata (sp?) has the best pool, but the little bungalos with porches at the Merengue were awesome!! I can recommend some good tours to do also!
