You have the oldest Church in the Eastern Hemisphere, the oldest buildings also in Santo Domingo. The North Coast is lined with beautiful beaches, Golf Courses and lush green. Driving East you have ocean to left and mountains to the right. Unbelievable and more than just an Island. Forget Haiti, the Dominican Republic only shares an Island with Haiti and nothing more. The Dominican Republic tries to keep the Haitians out. Have fun. Others The DR is a dazzling jewel in the Carribbean. It's glittering cities beckon hedonists from all over the world. It's also known as The Gateway to Haiti. You can't go wrong. punta cana a sosua are the best places to go because they are very private that most of hollywood celebrities go to those places Because of the history of the island, there are many locations. If you want beach...go to Punta Cana, Puerto Plata, Sosua or Carbarete on the north coast. Punta Cana being the best but more expensive. History...amazing history if you visit Santo Domingo. A lot like, New York City with a Hispanic twist. A very big city but it holds the home of Columbus which is really cool. Tobacco, banana, coffee farms and rice fields. Very cool. You can learn about Haitians and how they work in DR, watch some of the best cigars in the world be rolled or pick rice (or whatever they call it) in the rice fields or pick coffee or bananas. Lots of things to do all over the island. |
