Travel Tips What is "the Dominican?" ___________ If you buy US Dollars in Canada, then change to Dominican Pesos, you will lose twice on changing the money. Either bring your own currency or just get money out of an ATM for the best exchange rate. Others You lose more money if you take it out of an ATM Machine since the bank charges you a higher rate then if you would exchange it here. I did both, but was better off with the currency exchange here then there again, I actually gained because they over appreciate the value of the US$ there. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ spending kind Most vendors will take canadian dollars but will try to cheat you on the exchange. If you go to a bank ther you will get the fair exchange rate for dominican pesos. I have found that I can get better deals from local vendors useing US dollars or EUROs. You'll want to be sure that you have extra money for any souvenoirs that you might to bring home. If you want to enjoy attractions off of resort, those will cost you extra. The DR's currnecy is the Dominican peso and 1 Canadian dollar is worth around 28 pesos. The DR is a lovely land and I hope that you enjoy your time there! |
