Has anyone gone to puerto plata village in the dr? |
Travel Info did you find it to be neg or pos. was the locals a problem on the weekends Travel Tips locals are NOT a problem, they live there!! it's their city!! you make them sound like mosquitos or something! Others Puerto Plata is more than a village. It is a large sprawling city. It is the largest city on the north coast. It has all facets of life in the DR. From rich suberbs to large poor shanty town districts. It has great beaches, historic spanish fort, natinal amber museum. It has it all. Locals can be a problem trying to sell you trinkets or outright begging for some money to eat with. I love DR and Puerto Plata is a great place to imerse yourself in local culture. Puerto Plata Village is an all inclusive Hotel in Playa Dorada which is in Puerto Plata. It is on the bottom of the food chain in the Playa Dorada All Inclusive Hotel Complex. Some of the locals are only a problem on Weekends starting Saturday late afternoon and Sunday. These are the people from the center of the country who go to the beach on weekends. Usually those that stay at all inclusive hotels are NOT a problem. The ones that rent a room and have 45 people move in are the ones that throw the trash out of moving cars, leave garbage at the beach and show no respect for their country or others around them. Not unusual for someone to stop in the middle of a two way street and hold a conversation no matter how many cars are backed up behind them. They truly act and drive uncivilized at times in the eyes of a westerner and from the eyes of the educated Dominicans. Stay away during HOLY WEEK. This place is a mess then. Other than Holy Week they go home Sunday night. You should check out Non All Inclusive Hotels and see some of the island. When people stay in the all inclusives they feel both threatened to leave the complex because they are told it is dangerous to leave because the All Inclusive wants to sell you tours and they don't want to spend the money because it is already included in what they paid already. This is a big beautiful country with a very good looking population that are thrilled by foreigners. Man can these people dance!! My passport says I am Dominican btw:./ |
