I spend winters in the Dominican Republic. I can tell you that the salt water fishing is fantastic. If you can afford it take a charter out. Marlin and mahi mahi are common year round. Surf fishing at the beach is unpredictable. Sometimes you catch, sometimes you don't. Inland fishing is just so so. Most lakes and rivers are over fished due to lack of regulations and the locals need food.
