Rainy Season is during late April and early June. When you are going it's called Beach Season because the sun heats up teh sand turning it white and the water is clean because teh hurricanes took it away and great weaether.

The rainy season is more or less coincident with hurricane season, so you should be ok on that. Yes, beaches are nice. I enjoyed my stay there, very relaxing. Have fun.
I been to Punta Cana during Nov of 2004..I went for a week! It rained twice, but it was quick and nice! Over all the weather is nice! Make sure you stay on a resort were there isn't alot of trees! I stayed at one like that and there was more shade then sun!
