Is it safe to venture off Resort grounds at night in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic? |
Travel Info I'm going to be staying at a resort in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic for the first time (all inclusive) and was advised to stay in the resort during my stay due to high crime in the area. Is this true? Should I not go out into the city at night as a tourist? Travel Tips I don't think it's a good idea to leave the resort at night. Last year I went to Punta Cana, DR and we never left the resort. Once you get there and drive through the town to get to your resort you'll see why. It's a very poor country and crime is very high. I would play it safe and if you go off the resort for any reason I would go with a group of people. Your resort should have many activities so you may not even want to leave. Hope you have a great time. Others Yes, it is fairly dangerous in many areas.. If you were advised not to go off the resort, why are you thinking about doing it. This is my advise to you, if you insist on going off the resort, just practice good judgment. Don't go alone late at night. Go during the day. Don't flash your money or jewelry. Blend in. Be aware of your surroundings at all times. There are petty thieves every where. Don't be a target. Have a fun and safe trip s |
