Go see the Book of Kells at the university where it is housed - ( Trinity ? )- also you want to see the cathedral where Strongbow is buried. I did not spend a lot of time in Dublin, but found an inn that has been in business since the 9th C.
I would go past the grounds of the Prime Minister's house too.
