Im thinking of moving to dublin in october, which is the best part of the city to live? |
Travel Info I dont want to be too far from everything. Im 21 so id like to be close to the "young" area. Ive been looking on www.daft.ie and hose locations are divided into areas (north city, south city, west dublin, etc....) I really dont no anything about the place, like is there anywhere you wouldnt want to live? Travel Tips Rathmines is a good place to live. When I was in uni, may UCD students lived there because it was not right in town, but close to everything and relatively safe. Another nice place to live is Baggot Street area (Baggot Street, Lower Mount Street, Canal Street) which is full of nice pubs and shops and walking distance to town. It is expensive but it is kinda posh there. I used to live on Capel Street, and that was interesting so to speak, especially at night. A friend of mine lived in Smithfield and she was assaulted coming home from the train station. Smithfield is not great at night. Dublin 8 is dangerous as well. You are right near the Liberties, Teresa's Gardens, St., James (all rough areas). OK, so you are looking on daft.ie for places near the city centre I hate to generalise and sound snobby, but say NO to: Mountjoy, Smithfield, Parnell Street, Phibsboro, Harold's Cross, Talbot Street, Marlbourough Street, Dorset Street In sum, be weary of Dublin 1, 3, 7, 8 YES: Fitzwilliam area, St. Stephen's area, Leeson Street(upper and lower), Baggot Street (upper and lower), Mount street (upper and lower), Harcourt street area (nice area neartown and great pubs), Aungier/George's Street (same street), Rathmines area, Hannover quay (nice new places there), Pearse Street (very near Trinity College) Generally, these places are Dublin 2, 4, 6 If you are gind to live out a bit, the coastal areas are nice and served by the DART (train). They are: Sandyford, Dun Laoghaire, Howth, Malahide, Bray. Mind you, the commute would be long in/out to/of the city centre. And the bus from a place like Bray, expect to be on that bus forever during rush hour! Hope this helps! Source(s): Lived in Dublin as a student in uni Other Travel Tips best bet if you wanna be near things is find an apartment block in the city centre somewhere ( probably under north and south city- postcode's Dublin1 through to 8) , but in Dublin accommodation is scarce and rent is expensive so really , just keep looking and in the end settle for what you can get !! |
