What are must-dos for a first timer in Dublin?...something a guidebook wouldn't tell you? |
Travel Info I'll be there for about a week (Sept 5-.11)..I'd like to hear advice from locals or people that have had memorable experiences there. P.S. I'm on a budget so nothing outrageously expensive. Travel Tips must know how to drink an irish beer like the locals :D Others My best Friend went to the emerald Isle and he had a blast!!! as I understand it the people are just great! and there's a pub every six feet or so through out the land!!! now that's my kind of country! My buddys vacation Try to spend as much time with the Irish, I assure you that they'll make your stay memorable!! :) Go out and dance till morning, eat a kebab afterwards. Use public transport (buses and your own feet) rather than taxis. Take a long walk alongside the Liffey river. Visit places around Dublin, such as Blackrock and Howth. I don't know what your guide says, but I surely recommend a visit to the Dublin Castle - Dublinia, you'll have a great time!! Must say it's a shame being in Dublin and not visiting the Guinness brewery or the Trinity College premises, along with its famous library. Very interesting and enjoyable streets are the Grafton Street and Temple Bar. I suggest you do all the shopping in Henry Street, as it abounds with highly rated second-hand shops (Grafton Street offers only designers' stores). If your budget allows it, you should most certainly take the early morning train Dublin-Galway and spend a day in the western part of Ireland. There're some stunning sights, such as the Cliffs of Moher. I really wish you the most pleasant journey! If you would like to ask me anything more, feel free to contact me by e-mail. You should go to Dublin city and see things like temple bar,the GPO,the molly mallone statue and trinity college! the old gaol at kilmainham is well worth a look. try and get tickets for the gaelic games,or one of dublins local soccer clubs;ie BOHEMIANS! |
