Travel Info
hi there, i'm a south african, and am going to ireland in december, does anyone have any advice or tips on cool places to go and things to do???? and weather wise? how cold will it be??? thanks for your help.

Travel Tips
In Dublin--book of kells at Trinity College

National Museum of Ireland (Archaeology--very cool)

O'Connell St. + GPO (general post office w/ bullet holes from 1916 rebellion) and Dublin Spire

National Botanic Garderns

TEMPLE BAR!!!! if u only see one thing in Dublin go to the Temple Bar area--cool pubs, bars, restaurants, shops, UNBELIEVEABLY COOL (temple--family who owned the area and bar means a strip of land or neighborhood along side water, in this case, the River Liffey seperates Dublin into North and South Bank--everything to see except O'Connell St. and THE IRISH FAMINE MEMORIAL is on the south side.)

BRAZEN HEAD---oldest irish pub in the WORLD est. 1198!!! its very cool

ST. AUDEON"S CHURCH--touch the lucky stone
other churchs and Dublin Castle--not really worth it

OUTSIDE DUBLIN:

go to NEWGRANGE--- hour north of Dublinin Co. Meath near Drogheda

BLARNEY STONE--have to see, 6 min. north of CORK in Co. Cork----ways away from Dublin its at Blarney Castle--you kiss the stone, upside down, its funny, i actually did it 3 times--haha, im lucky!!!

KILLARNEY NATIONAL PARK---in Co. Kerry, UNBELIEVABLE--have to take a bike ride (rental shops everywhere) around Lough Leane to see MUCKROSS HOUSE---sooooo cool!!!!!! waterfalls and horses, and cool lakes, coolest park i've been in.

DINGLE PENINSULA---its the westernmost point in europe and is really cool, there are these 2000 year old neolithic rock walls and beehive huts (old cities) built from DRY STONE so there is NO cement or mortar, and GALLARUS ORATORY--cool early christian church, well preserved, all dry stone

just drive along Dingle Peninsula, cool cliff side and ocean and GREEN GREEN GREEN grazing lands---Co. Kerry (esp. Dingle Peninsula) is what u think of when u think of Ireland (at least for me--cause its all green and beautiful, and theres cliffs and the ocean)

CLIFFS OF MOHER ---north of Co. Kerry in Co. Clare, about 2 hrs north of Killarney probably, maybe more ---dont remember----really cool cliffs---most famous in Ireland

GALWAY---really cool city, young people, nightlife, restaurants, bars, MUSIC, like berkely california, its just a really cool city, very modern, and GALWAY BAY is EXTREMELY FAMOUS

hope this helps-----i did all these things in less than 2 weeks, it was a lot of fun b4 i went to Ireland i went to England--London is very cool, so is WINSOR CASTLE, STONEHENGE is cool for about 15 Min. and BATH, ENGLAND w/ the famous ROMAN BATHS is the coolest city in England, or at least close to London

HAVE FUN IN EIREANN (that's Ireland in Gaelic or Irish Language) hope i helped cya Source(s): just got back from IRELAND and england

Other Travel Tips
It will be freezing!!! I was in Dublin two winters ago and it was quite bitter - around 0 celsius.

Search "dublin events" in Google and you will find plenty to do, just be careful as it is one of the most expensive cities I know.
Good cities would be Dublin, Mayo, Donegal and Cork/Kerry, midlands is also a good area. Between all of them you'll see all the different areas and lifestyles in Dublin. Cool places to go to: Dingle, Giants Causeway, Cliffs of Moher, Spiddal (beaches), Lakes of Killarney. They would be senic places. Weather wise, expect anything from 0 degrees to 13 degrees in december. Bring shorts and an umbrella as well just in case, thats how unpredictable Irish weather is! Oh, and you can't leave Ireland until you drink a pint of Guinness!
