Living in Dublin vs. London?

Travel Info
I'm looking to live abroad sometime in the next few years (I'm American) and really loved the UK and Ireland the times I visited. I've just been considering London so far, but I also want to get some opinions from people who live in Dublin about whether they like living there and what it's like in terms of things to do, cost of living and so on. Thanks.

Travel Tips
I have lived in both and work in education.

Dublin is a much smaller place to live in (which is good)
You can walk around it much easier and get to know it well.
It does not have the impersonnal feelings that you get in London.
you would still be best to take advice on where to live from the students union before you arrive as some areas are better than others.

London is however a wonderful place to live. There are so many cultural events and places to visit etc. and as far as student life is concerned I'm sure it's one of the best.

The cost of living in both cities is expensive. Genral items like food will be cheaper in London and accomodation can vary.

Have a look at the Lonely Planet Guide.

If the cost of living is a concern, London is one of the worst cities in the world. But it's an amazing city where I would love to study for any length of time. I also have heard wonderful things about Dublin. So you'll need to consider finances because there is a big difference in costs between the two cities. Good luck and have fun!!!
More history in London. Dublin's great but it helps to be Irish to enjoy that culture. Either way.. do it and .bring lots of money.
i do not live in dublin, i live in san diego,ca but i would say london. i have considered the same two cities for school and london has so much to offer. london has everything you need. dublin is an amazing place as well. so in the end, you have to decide what will be best for you no matter what it costs you. after all, if you move around the world, you do want it to be right.
I'm from Dublin :] It's a great city however both Dublin and London rate high on the cost of living scale.
