Travel Tips
Sure no problem if he has a UK Visa it is all he needs he does not need a separate Visa to visit Southern Ireland as it is basically the same place..Unless Ireland has re-negotiated the treaty of Rome since I last checked

Others
technically he needs a separate isa;but practically speaking if he traels first to northern ireland and then comes down by bus or train or car,he may have no problem.
airport is dodgy.
No one checks the border in ireland, so he can go to north then keep going easily.
First, its called the Republic of Ireland and secondly, yes he would need a visa as Ireland is not part of the UK (thank God).

It is not the same place as Northern Ireland b/c it is an independent country and has nothing to do with the UK. The easiest way to piss off an Irish man is to tell him that the Republic of Ireland is the same as the UK.
lived in Ireland
