Spending Birthday/anniversary in Dublin. What to do? |
Travel Info Any suggestions? Budget options only plaese. Its at the end of July. would like something romantic if possible, and very very cheap. Travel Tips you must go on the tour bus as this takes in all the main sites, and it is an ideal means of transport as you can hop on/off as much as you like-stopping at all the major attractions such as the guiness brewery etc. to be honest in Dublin it is generally very expensive so as to what you want to do on a budget i don't know. As long as you take that bus trip though you get to see everything if not pay entry into everything. you could also stop off for a romantic walk through the main (huge) park (i forget its name). make sure you have a drink in temple bar, pref a guiness! also when eating out try side st pubs as we found some fantastic carverys at extremely reasonable prices in nice traditional irish settings. have fun! Others By all means take the bus tour, but the real way to see Dublin is on foot. Take in Trinity College & the Book of Kells, Stephen' Green, Ha'Penny Bridge, The Guiness Brewery offers great tours. Best of all do some Pub crawling especially in non-touristy places. MyFavorite is Kavanagh's (AKA Gravediggers) near the cemetary in Glasnevin. Do the bus tour as the previous person recommended but stay away from the city centre especially Temple Bar area as it is aimed for the tourist trade and is very expensive. Get the dart ( train) and travel the whole of Dublin bay and see the sights. Get a daily ticket it costs 4.40 euro per person. ( about 2.50 pounds sterling) You can hop on and off as often as you like and go visit the real Dublin where the bars and food are cheaper. We stayed in Wynn's Hotel and it was just off O'Connell St. right in the middle of everything. The tour bus is a must you can get on and off all day up to 5pm for 14euros (about 拢7 each) this will take you to all the main tourist attractions. We went to the Guinness factory it was well worth a visit, the viewing tower of Dublin was amazing. The shopping was great, it was a lot cheaper than we expected but the food and drink is rather expensive. If you are flying to Dublin or going on the ferry, and you want to save money use the buses at the airport/port. The taxi was quite expensive (you can always ask how much they will charge you) There is also a ghost bus which is on O'Connell St. at night that is dearer than the normal tour bus but it's different. The hotels have all the tourist information leaflets. Have a great time we did!!!! Doesn't matter where you are, as long as you have a nice pint in one hand and... another in the other! o.o Most tourists aren't used to going to pubs - better said, they're afraid to mingle with the locals (as if they would bite...) But if you're looking for cheap... why Dublin? You'll pay a fortune there, especially on something romantic! |
