Travel Info I'm traveling to Quito, Ecuador, what do I NEED to do/see? Travel Tips I've been to Quito in the year 2002. The city has a "Colonial" part and a "Modern" part. A guided city tour in the colonial part is a must, because the guide will tell you all the facts about the great buildings. Also don't miss the Winged Virgin in El Panecillo with a spectacular view. In the modrn part there is Av. Amazonas, with restaurants, malls, etc. I recommend that while walking around in the colonial part you take care of your belongins. I saw a few robberies, always to tourists. Traffic is hell too so take care. If you can leave Quito, go to Otavalo and the big fair, to the Ecuator line, to El Coca in the jungle and Cuenca it's very typical, but Cuenca is a bit far from Quito. Good luck! Others Year ago I was travelling in Mexico and I was told of Quito as lovely, the rivers goes through the center of town and there were many colonial buildings. We have 4 natural regions: Pacific Coast, The Andes, Amazon and The Galapagos Islands. You can go to www.ecuadorexplorer.com and read all the information about the different regions and activities that you can do while visiting my country :D have fun I am ecuadorian, and if you have the time to visit other places besides quito do it!....I would definitely recommend you Misahualli, el Puyo, definitely Ba帽os too!. Also visit el Cotopaxi, which is a volcano like an 1 hour away from quito. Otavalo also is great!....Once in quito visit el TELEFERICO...great view of the city!!!...good luck! |
