Old Town Plaza de la Independencia Restaurant La Querencia Fun: No Bar (Latins and tourists) http://www.thebestofecuador.com/qenterta... Mita del Mundo is a lot of fun, though very touristy. Its the monument that marks the Ecuador. There are a lot of tourist shops and restaurants. It was here that my husband took a picture of me eating a Guinea pig sitting on the Ecuador. There is a fantastic native craft market at Otavalo. Its north of Quito. There is also a market in Quito itself at Park El Ejido, which runs on Sunday. I love Ecuador! I just returned from my second trip this year. la mitad del mundo, centro historico de quito, teleferico, imbabura Once you get to Quito you have many options: Go to the "Centro Historico" and visit some churches and museums. Go around by yourself if you can or go to "Centro Cultural Metropolitano" to get some advice. I highly recommend that you visit every church as they tell a lot about the history of Quito. Visiting most of the historical places is free. Near to the "Centro Historico" you can go to "El panecillo" which is a small hill with a virgin monument at the top. Since it's a hill you can have very nice views of Quito. Also you'll see some souvenir sellers around here. Then you could go to "Itchimb铆a" to the crystal palace of the city and also have some nice views of Quito with some cultural activity within palace. Getting into the palace might cost you 5-10 dollars. Not so far away from these places is located the new attraction of Quito: "El Teleferico" which are small boxes hanging from a wire--I don't know how you call it in English. It's located on a high mountain's skirts and has an amusement park and some fancy restaurants and souvenirs. It's pretty cool! Also, if you go to the top of the mountain, you can see most of Quito from there. So prepare your camera. A bit far from Quito (about 20 minutes by car) is located a very important place in Ecuador: "La mitad del Mundo" or "The middle of the world." Here you'll see the monument and you can go shop around for souvenirs in the nearby community. Getting inside the monument and enjoying the museum could be interesting. If you're more adventuresome, you can visit the "Pululahua" volcano near "La mitad del Mundo." If you'd like to go around Ecuador with other tourists, you may go to "La Mariscal" neighborhood and find many adventurers and tour offering. Here you have clubs where you may have fun at nighttime. I hope you have fun if you come to Quito! I live in Quito |
