Good things to do in or around Edinburgh?

Travel Info
I'm looking for cool things to do, if possible some less 'touristy' things - as I've been there before.

Travel Tips
Hi mate,

I live in Falkirk, which is just about 30 minutes away from Edinburgh. I was in Edinburgh today.

It really depends what you like doing, there is the obvious answers, like the TATOO, FRINGE, Edinburgh Castle, Princess Street Shopping. There is a really big shopping Centre in Leith called OCEAN TERMINAL, check that out if you like shopping.

At the moment, cow parade is on, there are 100 Cows, (Fake of course) all different colours, and designs on them, check out http://www.cowparade-edinburgh.co.uk...
I think it ends this sun though, you can download a map and go searching for them all. Check out my collection at http://magpienat.bebo.com

If thats not your cup of tea, then go to Princess Street, the Park which is directly below Princess Street has a Beach Volleyball compitition on just now, I was there this morning watching the event, its quite funny to watch.

If you go to the Royal Mile.. You can go on a Ghost Walk... The event is in an old Church, and its around about 拢10 to go in. Ive never been inside, but I hear its quite good.

If you come out of Waverly Train Station, and take a LEFT outside the Station, go towards the traffic lights turn LEFT again around the corner, and the Edinburgh Dungens are there, I think thats slighty cheaper to go in, but thats quite fun also, if you like that sort of thing.

If you go to the Scottish parliament buildings in Edinburgh, there is a nice spot to sit and relax, a few fountains, grassy area, beautiful... if you like Hill Climbing... then King Arthurs Seat is around there also... FANTASTIC views at the top, can see for miles and miles on a clear day.

Camera Obscura and the World of Illusions - its in the ROYAL mile, its around 拢5 to go in, and it has around 3 floors with "Interactive" things to do... Ive been twice before, its rather interesting and fun.

I could go on and on, Edinburgh is a great place to go to, check out a few things I have mentioned, and I am sure you will have a good time.

Also... as mentioned I am from Falkirk... Check out the Falkirk Wheel... it is a touristy thing to do.... but its rather interesting and its the only Boat Wheel ever in the Whole World!

It's obvious, but amazing how people keep asking the question at this time of year - The Edinburgh International Festival!

There are free open concerts at the Princess Street Gardens, shows to see at the Fringe, films to watch at the Film Festival, books and talks at the Book Festival, cool gigs at the Jazz Festival, street theatre, bla bla bla...

Not to mention the more permanent things like galleries, museums, Holyrood Park, Arthur's Seat and the Salisbury Crags, the Royal Botanic Gardens, a bike ride out to Gullane and spend the day at the beach there, or climbing at Alien Rock in Newhaven or the Ratho Adventure Park. I could just go on and on...
