Travel Info Has Scotland had it's summer? ,is the weather going to peak again? Travel Tips Scotland is best enjoyed in dreich weather, thick mist and a bit of cold actually. When you're in the Highlands, a good bit of muck and shivers will make you feel at one with your surroundings. When it's warm and sunny, as it was a few weeks ago, you'll only suffer the midges. Outdoor activities are also less of an option when you're sweating all the time. In the cities too, mist and rain complement the townscapes. When Edinburgh Castle disappears in the clouds and the mist gets thick enough to blind the way through the closes, you'll really appreciate it. So, whether or not summer is over in Scotland, you don't really need summer to enjoy the country. That said, August is usually a month with comfy temperatures and bright weather. Summer won't really be over until the scent of winter returns to the air, usually in late September. Others Weather in Scotland never peaks, there will still be a good few hot days. Maybe even an extended period of non-rain but summer is winding down. Scotland is beautiful, it doesn't need good weather but good weather helps lol :) forget the weather, that's not what Scotland's about. forget the cities head to the A9 and head north towards Dunkeld, Pitlochary then west across to Oban,Skye; the list is endless there are loads of good bed & breakfast accomadation. You can pre book at any tourist information office. this is autum and the scenery is breathtaking. If sunbathing is your thing head for spain or somewhere.
