Travel Tips
Walking distance of princes st?? New year?? Expect to pay through the nose for that LOL!

Best bet would probably be a B&B in The New Town, walk up the hill and your on Princes St.

As for tickets, you prob won't get any for the street party at this late stage as a lot are allocated to residents early on and the rest are sold.

there's heaps of hostels/backpacker etc...if thats your kind of thing, heaps of hotels too....just look on the net!!...as for tickets.....you have to live in edinburgh to get the tickets i think......i used to live there.....got free tickets in the post every yr:)
When we go to Edinburgh we usually stay in Holiday Inn Express, there is one in Pacardy Place, opposite the theatre and not far from Princes Street.

You should book early, Edinburgh fills up quick at New Year.
Wouldn't recommend it to be honest. Unless you enjoy freezing your *** off, wading through rivers of vomit (and usually blood too), getting soaked in beer/wine/champagne, being crushed in a crowd and unable to get into any decent pubs. Rubbish.

Get a cottage with your mates somewhere remote and you'll have a much better time.
use glasgow and the train to waverley it is cheaper.
Edinburgh is a beautiful city and very vibrant. There are loads of things to visit, the castle, the dungeons, the royal mile. There are loads of hotels in this area some are quite expensive but some are cheap and cheerful with just a little walk to the centre of town.

Try looking on www.visitscotland.com and www.edinburgh.org and www.stayinginedinburgh.com for some ideas on places to see and places to stay. There are some great shops and its all lit up at christmas. It does get cold so pack your winter woolies.

I stayed in Jurys inn in Edinburgh its basic but it is in the middle of the city another hotel that is smack in the middle of the city just off the royal mile is the Ibis hotel www.ibishotel.com
Mal Maison.
