Do you recommend Edinburgh in August? |
Travel Info Both the Edinburgh International Festival and the Fringe sound fabulous, but I'm not a big fan of crowds and overbooked hotels, etc. Travel Tips We went in August, and it was great. The Fringe and the International Festival were wonderful, and filled with amazing performers. It was very, very crowded, though, but that's not so bad because you're mostly walking. I think we booked our hotel in March, though... A lot of the hotels in surrounding areas were full when we got there, so we were grateful we had booked early. You don't want to wind up sleeping in your car or something. All in all, yep!yes!!it so wicked in any month exept june!! Yes i went in august last year, weather was good and there was lots to see. Yes, definately - went there last year in August, and had the time of my life. Weather was great, people were in a great spirit, and there was so much to do and experience. There were a lot of people, but it didn't feel crowded - and that's from a girl who also hates crowds. Though, you propably want to start thinking about booking a hotel room - Edinburgh is very popular, and hotels get booked very fast. We had to stay at some of the dorms at the local college as it were impossible to get a hotel room. Not the most luxurious experience, but an experience none the less. I was there in August, and loved it. Bring warm clothes--it'll be chillier than you think! The Fringe was fun, and right nearby were to Vaults--do not miss the Vaults! Spooky! The festivals are fabulous but there will be loads of people so better plan ahead and not go on the fly. As long as you book ahead, you'll be fine. |
