Which is the best hotel in Edinburgh?

Travel Info
I want to book a really good hotel but prefer to go on others personal recommendation if possible. If any of you guys have stayed in any of the top Edinburgh hotels, please let me know what you thought of them?

Travel Tips
Well, it really depends on your personal taste, but if you can get a room, there's nothing that beats The Witchery in my opinion. My husband and I stayed in The Inner Sanctum suite and spent ages reading the comments of people who've stayed there like Jack Nicholson. When you arrive, there are hundreds of candles and an open fire lit in your rooms. There was a Jacobite soldier's jacket casually slung over a balustrade, as if he'd just left it there! The bed is a lavish four-poster with velvet drapes, and the bathroom has a bath you could probably get four or five people in - if that's your thing! Although it has all the mod-cons of dvd player and cd system, they are hidden away in cabinets so as not to spoil the historical appeal. It was romantic, Gothic and unusual, and I loved it. The restaurant is again, totally candlelit, and the food is gorgeous. It's expensive, but memorable in a way few hotels are. You need to book well in advance though!

Others
The North British - It's outside Edinburgh station. It has a real old fashioned quality to it. Makes you feel super posh and like you're stepping back in time...
I live accross the road from the Radisson Hotel on the Royal Mile. It looks fantastic inside and out. Its near everything.
laterooms dot com will have some great hotels at great prices at this time of years.

Hilton Caledonian, Bridge loads of them
Without doubt the Royal British Hotel on Princess street.
Warning: Take LOTS of money with you if you want to stay there!
I was there in September last year, and I stayed in the APEX hotel. There are two - APEX International and APEX European. I stayed in the International and it was well nice. Really modern and contempory. U can have breakfast sent up to ur room, or have it down in the eating area. They have a gym and pool too, free to use wen u stay there.
best Western hotel me and my bf stayed there just before Xmas it was nice about 70 a night 2 it a 4 star and 5 min walking from city centre. but if u want to spend alot of money there is a top hotel right in the centre but its called a funny name u walk past it from best Western. go on the best Western hotel site and there is about 3 of them around the area.
