Things to do in Edinburgh?

Im going to edinburgh on saturday for the day with my man any ideas on good things to do and see, we were thinking the castle

Hi,

the castle is great (but pricy). You'll get to see the crown jewels though ;-)

The museums are free and they are great. (The Royal Museum and The Museum of Scotland)

I recommend you visit the MARY KING'S CLOSE (entrance from the Royal Mile). It is a tour into the the OLD EDINBURGH - there are hundreds of years old strees and houses underneath Edinburgh's City Chambers!!! The guides are great and they give a great tour, filled with stories about medieval Edinburgh.

The Royal mile has great bars

See the castle, go out for the night.
See the old city.
Go to the park to see their Acropolis.
Go 4 cafe!!!
And speak to them they are very nice people.

It depends on the weather, but I really recommend a walk on Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Crags (biggest hill and cliffs in middle of city).

The castle is good but quite expensive. The Scottish museum is good too.

Personally if the weather's good I would spend the day walking around New Town, Old Town and the nice suburbs like Marchmont; look at the architecture, especially the university, and have lots of coffee breaks and lunches. Just soak up the atmosphere. Try googling TheList which is the local entertainment listing and will give any concerts etc... It will also show restaurants. For a coffee break I recommend any branch of Beanscene, for live local music try The Royal Oak on Infirmary Street.
