Easter weekend in Edinburgh?

I'm going to edinburgh with a friend for three nights over easter. i realise its not going 2 b cheap. we would like to stay in a hotel rather than a hostel but are conscious about price (we r both students!!!) any ideas would be much appreciated.

i've never been to scotland b4, so we will probably go to glasgow too. what are the best things to do in ether or both cities?

Edinburgh is situated between the Pentland Hills and the South Coast of the Firth of Forth and is the capital of Scotland. A recent census put the population at around 450 000 people and growing. Edinburgh has a number of nicknames: "Auld Reekie", "Festival City" and "The Athens of the North" due to the amount of fine architecture in the city. Scots speak English with a Scottish accent, so understanding the locals should not be to difficult and visitors to the city can be sure of a warm welcome and expect a safe and pleasant stay.

Other Travel Tips
You could consider staying in a bed and breakfast establishment rather than a hotel. Because it is Easter both hotels and guest houses are going to charge optimum rates so if you are on a tight budget then you might have to stay in a hostel. There is one called St Christopher's Inn in Market Street just outside Waverley Station that might be worth a try.

You would be minutes from the Royal Mile which has Edinburgh Castle at the top and Holyrood Palace at the bottom and a lot of history in between. You will also want to visit the New Town and see Princes Street and Princes Street Gardens which both give good view of the castle.
Hostels can be good value, but cheap does not always equate to cheap.

For example a hotel room may work out better value. Rooms are for 2 , sometimes 3, instead of per person, they are often better situated, saving on transport, offer free inclusions like amenities and big breakfasts etc etc.

There's probably going to be some good deals coming up for Easter. If you want to be certain and pay a little extra, book early, otherwise take a chance and you may end up with some great deals.
