Im visiting edinburgh this summer is the castle area a good area to stay, and good to see the rest of edinburgh |
Travel Info what i need to know is,if i book a b and b near the castle,is it easy to visit the other tourist parts in edinburgh on foot Travel Tips I was in Edinburgh 2 years ago and stayed at a hostel named "Castle Rock", the castle was right across the street, really pretty at night, the place was really clean and had tons of info about things to do in the city and surroundings.. it's great convenience for backpackers or if you're travelling on a budget! They also offer tours of the city and of Scotland and the staff is upbeat, super helpful and friendly! up and down the street were loooots of nice pubs with lots of outdoor tables, nice shops, plenty of entertainement! Mind you, I never experienced other hostels in the city but I absolutely loved my time there! Hope this helps ! http://www.scotlandstophostels.com/edinb... Source(s): backpacking thru scotland Other Travel Tips Yeah you should stay in Leith for a 'real' Edinburgh experience, Well the castle is dead centre of the city. A B&B will cost you dearly and most likely all booked now - the festival sees to that. Edinburgh is a small city, everyhing a tourist is likely to want to see is within walking distance. Look for a guesthouse in the Newtown/Stockbridge area. Quiter, posher, nicer and only a walk up the hill to get to the castle and everything else there is to see. You might as well--! It's a beautiful city, not very spread out. Be sure to bring a coat and sweaters, it's cold in Scotland even in August. Brilliant is right in the centre of town so you can walk everywhere. Edinburgh is not that big so you can walk but beware of the hills. The castle is smack bang in the middle of the city and is the perfect area for visiting everywhere on foot since Edinburgh isn't a very big city. However, hotels and B and B's in this area can be really expensive. I live in a hostel (part of which is student accomodation) which is brand new and has 5 star status. The rooms are great, en suit, and the hostel has a really nice bar, restaurant and guest kitchen. I believe its quite affordable (not exactly sure how much as I pay rent to the University instead). Smartcity hostel is situated about 50 metres off the Royal Mile and is a 5 minute walk from the castle and most attractions. If this appeals to u visit the website, I think its www.smartcityhostels.com and wherever u stay I hope u have a great time! Edinburgh is a beautiful city and the weather is normally great in the summer! |
