Travel Info Has anyone done duke of edinburgh silver? what is it like? Travel Tips It's just like the Bronze only each section takes a little longer to complete. The only thing that is really a bit harder is the Expedition - you have to walk further and camp out an extra night in a slightly more "wild" area..but you have supervisors keeping track of you all the way just like bronze! Check out the official website..it's very detailed. http://www.theaward.org/ I hope you take up the challenge - it's not really hard but it does take commitment and should be enjoyable...learn a new skill, make new friends etc!!!! Also it is very good to have on a CV for a job or maybe college/uni application in the future. It shows you have the type of personality who can take on a challenge and follow through. It also gives you a lot to talk about at interviews. Even at Gold level you do not have to walk 30 miles in one day!!!!!!!!!!!!! Others Quite challenging, although I have to say I was not fit when I did it. This was 10 years ago when I was in school in Lake District, Cumbria. UK> I did it years ago, its hard work although the skill and community sevice modules were harder than the hiking. its suprising how easy 30miles is in a day once you get moving.... |
