Travel Info Can a provisional Irish driving-licence be used as ID for pubs, clubs etc. in Edinburgh? Travel Tips Provisional driving liscences are acceptable in any pub or club I've ever been to and I look about 12. There's no guarantee they'll accept your irish one, if they're over cautious they probably won't because they won't know what it's supposed to look like. That said, You won't get ID-ed in pubs generally because there aren't bouncers at the doors except for the student ones or very upmarket ones. As for clubs I'd say you'll be fine as long as you don't look like it's past your bedtime. During the festival it's heaving with tourists so they are used to people with foreign ID. Others I dont see why not! Does it have your face on?? As long as it's got your photo and shows that you are over 18. Bring your Passport. Any premises with an alcohol license found guilty of serving under 18s will lead to huge fines and loss of license. It it therefore your obligation to verify your (or your guests) age. In many other countries a UK driving license will not be considered a valid form of ID as it is not recognised in that country. If you worked on a bar and someone offered a foe reign ID, how would you know it is not a forgery ? Unless you were from that country and could recognise a fake or valid ID ?? NO- Provisional licenses are not acceptable ID anywhere in the UK. Going by your avatar, I wouldn't trust you even if it was a full driving license! ;-) |
