Is there a festival in Edinburgh? |
Travel Info I heard there was a festival in the summer in Edinburgh, but I don't know the dates and details about it... Can anybody help? Travel Tips http://www.edinburghfestivals.co.uk/fest... Edinburgh has a lot of different festivals going on during the summer - the website shows all of them, with dates and listings. The most popular is probably the fringe, which runs through August - this is undoubtedly the best time to come to Edinburgh, as the atmosphere is amazing and there is so much to see and do! The fringe has a variety of things like comedy, music, theatre, exhibitions etc. There is also the edinburgh international festival which is a more high brow event with things such as opera, ballet and classical music. If you come to the festivals - keep an eye out for cheap tickets (i.e. last year at the international festival they kept a number of tickets for sale on the day for 拢5). Others t on the fringe is coming to meadowbank stadium in august http://www.tonthefringe.com/content/... and I'm going to see the Foo's Yes, the Edinburgh International Festival runs from 10 August to 2 September this year. The fringe festival overlaps with the International Festival - people put on their own shows. Some of it is really good - almost all is interesting. Check the websites: http://www.eif.co.uk/ and http://www.edfringe.com/ for complete details. This is highly recommended. Edinburgh Festival There is not one Edinburgh Festival but those using the term are usually referring to the collection of various festivals in August and early September of each year in Edinburgh, Scotland: Edinburgh International Festival - The original and "official" festival consisting of classical and contemporary Theatre, Opera, Music and Dance. Edinburgh Fringe - Started life as a small scale "fringe" event to the EIF, but is now the largest of all the festivals and indeed the largest arts festival in the world [1]. Includes Theatre, Comedy, Music, Musicals, Dance and Children's shows.
